| | rocky road to Dublin | ] | Well, for those who haven't seen Girmalky's post it's confirmed that when an old oak tree lands it makes a VERY LOUD noise. Especially when the it decides to land on the house. Thanks to the high winds, it got very up close and personal to our porch and the roof above it are collapsing, multiple penetrating limbs through the roof. And to top it off, it ripped the power lines off the house, leaving nice exposed wires that Alabama Power HAS YET TO FIX...Not being able to open the front door can't be good either.
the pics don't look good so far. |

| a borrowed Christmas meme |
[Nov. 30th, 2008|09:35 pm] |
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? depends if I'm giving or receiving. I personally like ripping open the paper, but after working retail; specifically gift wrap/customer service, I like giving bags.
2. Real tree or artificial? Fake- I love the smell but, I don't see the point with the clean up or the waste of a dead tree. Plus it saves money in the long run over time.
3. When do you put up the tree? When I lived at home it went up about two weeks before christmas, now well I haven't had either the time, money or space.
4.Do you like eggnog? Yes, but without the booze and in small amounts. So unless I can find a pint of it there is really no point. I will go to waste.
5.Favorite gift received as a child? I remember a bouncing riding horse that made galloping sounds. I think I was 3 or 4 at the time.
6. Hardest person to buy for? My parents. Mother's a nurse and well Dad, what I would like to get him I couldn't even begin to afford.
7. Easiest person to buy for? My sister
8. Do you have a nativity scene? Nope, not a one.
9. Mail or email Christmas cards? Depends on whether I remember in time or not. But all in all I attempt to mail.
10. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Really no gift to say. But the year 2001 sucked as my Grandmother passed away Dec. 1st of that year. It just wasn't the same and no one was really in the holiday spirit.
11. Favorite Christmas movie? White Christmas, with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. Love the music, love the dancing, love Danny Kaye and plus no drama and tear jerking.
12. When do you start shopping for Christmas? I try to start around October 1. Depending on what I know people would like, if I can then earlier.
13. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Yes, but ask me again and I will deny it.
14. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? My grandma's Icebox fruitcake, and as I hate fruitcake this is some good stuff.
15. Lights on the tree? Sure. Clear, colored it doesn't matter.
16. Favorite Christmas song? Carol of the bells, followed closely by We Three Kings. And if I have to hear Jingle Bell Rock any more I swear I will be going postal.
17. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Depends on the plans with the parents and the in-laws.
18. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Yes, but give me a second.
19. Angel on the tree top or a star? Depends on what I have and what look I want to go for.
20. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning One on Christmas Eve and the rest after breakfast.
21. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? As a survivor of working retail there are many things but I think my fingers would give out before I was through.
22. Favorite ornament theme or color? I really don't have a specific one. I go for anything that catches my eye.
23.Favorite for Christmas dinner? Ham, definitely ham and Watercress salad.
24. What do you want for Christmas this year? My dept to be paid off, a new roof for the house, and a part-time job so I can pay for improvements to the house or my car. |

Yes I'm still up and alive if anyone has wondered. Work lately has kept me occupied and that was the only location I could get constant internet access. We don't have our own house line yet as few if any places will bring even cable out to our area. Not that it's that far off I think it's to near the county line or something.
Now, on top of this annoyance work has put a big no-no out that we can't access Facebook, Livejournal,or even My Space or anything else like it or risk possible disciplinary action. And they would know if we got on because they monitor internet activity on all computers.
So now the only time I can check or post to Livejournal is if I'm at another friend's place who have internet. |

| | concret blond | ] | yes I know I don't post very often if at all. That is partial due to the fact I am a very poor correspondent, especially with writing. Also due to lack of constant internet my only true access is at work and well that recently went the way of the dodo.
It seems from the main big wigs that to many people have been spending waaaaay to much time on sites like this one and not doing their work (for shame). So unless you have to get on Facebook, Myspace, or one of the others it's now a no-no at work.
But on a side note. Geminiknight mentioned a print by Ruth Thompson he got at the Georgia Ren-fair. Yes she got her start right here in Birmingham.
And for those who may want to MEET her, she will be at the Georgia Ren-fair May 3-4 and May 31- June 1 ALL DAY LONG. She will be painting, willing to sign your artwork and just visit.
Goodness knows if we had the extra money I'd be hopping and skipping my happy little butt up there with more than one piece of artwork. |

| | concreate blond | ] | Came home late Saturday night and found 2 female Shepard mix puppies in my front yard.
We have already checked with our neighbors and none have females who have give birth. We can only assume the mama was a stray and the babies followed her and got lost. As we have several wandering the area. We have looked around for a loose female and more puppies with no luck.
If you are interested or if you know anyone who would be interested, I and the Girmalky can not keep them as cute as they are. We would like to find homes for them without resorting to the humane shelter. They are between 1 ½ to 3 months old and eating soft food. They have the brown coloration of the shepard. They have had very little contact with humans but are very sweet tempered and laid back.
Our cat is not happy with them in the least but they show no concern with her, and in fact ignore her for the most part.
So please if you are interested in taking in one or both of the sweet little girls or know someone who maybe interested, please by all means let me know or send them our way. |

Your home is a Magic Magnate's Castle Your kitchen is someplace you never go, because you "have people for that." There's a Chocolatessen, which is rapidly becoming your favorite room of the house. Having one is also becoming a trend among your wealthy neighbors. Your master bedroom is the size of a small barn, with carpet thick enough to reach your ankles. Your study has hardback editions of every classic ever written, plus a special edition of Rich Dad, Poor Dad with the parts you ghost-authored highlighted. One of your garages holds your collection of ferraris, and is measured in acreage.
Your home also includes a guest wing and private quarters for your servants. Your guests enjoy your home theater with hi-def plasma screen TV, and the thrones you watch it from. Outside is your hedge maze and gardens, meticulously tended by a team of world-class botanists.
And, you have a pet -- a doberman pincer named "Warren".

My check card was stolen some time this past Saturday afternoon. I don't know exactly when it was taken but between late Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon, when I realized it was gone and reported it, some jackass racked up a total of $989 all at Ruby Tuesday with 9 different charges.
I mean who in the hell spends that kind of money at a Ruby Tue. for crying out loud.
Plus it will take the Bank at least 10 days to get my money back and then it will be 49 more days for them to investigate and take care of any NSF charges. Why after having my account frozen so the withdrawls stop I've got to open a new account so I can get my paycheck cashed in 2 weeks and I still have bills from this past paycheck to go.
Right now I would like nothing more to hang the perp by his intestines. The sorry piece of shit.
Right now I'm just going through the motions of getting this mess fixed. There's got to be a better way of protecting yourself. |
